It has been 14
years since I have bred a litter. I spent 15 years building
a breeding program that produced more than 100 champions in
5 different countries, first in conjunction with John and
Marian Lerfold and my first husband, Darrell as Ravenhill
Dobermans, and then on my own with Westarr. In 1994, when my
life situation changed, I chose to temporarily retire from
breeding while I pursued a full time career in
handling. I was no longer able to be at home enough and care
for and raise puppies in the way that I felt Dobe puppies
needed to be happy, healthy, social puppies. It is not a
decision that I have ever regretted however, as I have been
blessed with many other opportunities and experiences that I
would not have had otherwise. From friendships developed to
intimately learning about many other breeds, the lessons I
have learned have allowed me an even better understanding of
the Doberman breed.
When our first
Dobes Tiki and Titan came into the lives of my family I had
no idea dogs would become a life long passion for me and how
they would influence my life path. I followed the usual
progression from pet owner, to learning how to handle my own
dog and then learning about the breeding of dogs. From the
genetics of breeding to the phenotypic traits passed on
through the generations I was fascinated by it all and so I
studied and learned. I was determined to do my best, to
produce dogs that not only portrayed my idea of the
“perfect” Doberman but also were healthy and had good
temperaments. Over the years I feel that I had developed a
successful breeding program; one that produced not only many
beautiful show dogs but also many beautiful, happy pets that
enriched the lives of their owners. They were not years
without up and downs and heartaches but they are years that
I can look back on and be proud of.
It is with great
pride that I present the following photos..........a
pictorial of my success as a breeder. These are but a
few of the great dogs that were so much a part of my life,
at least for a while............
